Title of private topics are showing in WP phpBB w3all Last Topics widget

  • I had a trouble with Widget WP phpBB w3all Last Topics, because we had a private forum and their topics (that supossedly are private) are showing in the WP widget together with the normal topics.

    https://rol-peru.com/ (wordpress 4.9.4) and https://rol-peru.com/comunidad (phpBB3)

    I check the permissions and in phpBB all is working as expected:
    Private forums and private topics are nos showing for groups Guests and Registered Users, but are showing OK to members of this private group and Administrators.

    How can I solve this without being forced to disable the widget?

    Hello! You could setup these forums as excluded forums, that aren’t retrieved to be shown on Last Forum widget, but in this way, posts from these forums aren’t retrieved for all groups.

    I’ve already be noticed about this problem in the past, that i’ve not find out the time to return over, and i remember that i’ve not been able to reproduce.
    I will re-try setting up some custom group as i can, and check if i can understand where the problem is and when come out.
    As checked, i will return over posting here.

    Thanks a lot axew3. It works, but as you said, it doesn’t show for anything, even for logged users from the groups with access granted.

    If you want to check my site and environment to find the trouble, just ask me and I’ll give you access.

    I have the same problem. So it’s not too rare problem i think.

    i’ve just try out a test and all return working as expected, then unfortunately, also this time i’ve fail to reproduce the issue.

    @iotopia thank for your trust, at moment i’m engaged into some problems and i can’t immediately take a look into your ACP settings, because in effect i start to think that it is a problem about how the forums/groups permission settings have been setup on ACP, but maybe i’m wrong.

    I’ve setup a forum and a group for test: this particular forum has been setup to be accessed only by this created test group: i see that removing or adding group permissions to some test users, groups/users that can view this forum, can views posts into Last Topics widget, for all others, nothing is shown. The correct result.
    so unfortunately i’ve still not understand where the problem can be.

    Anybody can help on make more light over this Last Topics and phpBB GROUPS/FORUMS view permissions issue?

    I use it without iframe and with custom /wp-w3all-config/config.php
    Maybe it’s important. All this structure looks like https://www.wordpress-example.com and phpbb-subdomain.example.com
    Can it help?

    hello @alicesmith no unfortunately it not help because the function that retrieve posts and check for the group that the user belong, is the same, and it just retrieve data from the database, nothing can affect, except the evaluation of data: user belong to a group? display. Not belong, Not display.
    I’m stuck in the fact that i can’t reproduce at moment …
