Be very, very careful about adding this plugin to your site. If you try to delete it later, it will crash your site, as it has mine on multiple occasions. You can deactivate it, but it reaches into your database and makes it impossible – at least without serious technical skills – to delete.

The problem you experience is probably with the advanced-cache.php file, object-cache.php file, or database-cache.php. WordPress needs those files to know a plugin is used for caching. If those files are not removed or contain code referencing the W3 Total Cache plugin after you’ve removed the plugin, an error will rise, causing a status code 500 response.

    I hope this helps!
