• Two fold problem – or maybe it’s all the same!
    1. When connected to the internet using my Verizon broadband my webpage (www.rvthereyet.org) will not open. I also cannot access my email when using that connection. HOWEVER, when on a regular wireless the webpage loads just fine and I can get my email. I have worked with Verizon = they have no idea why just this one site is a problem. I have checked with my server (lunar pages) and they confirm that all is fine. I thought it must be a Verizon problem, but then today….
    2. While on a regular wireless connection my webpage loads fine, but I cannot log in. When I click on the log-in link I get a HTTP 404 error. When I looked through the forum posting I saw a suggestion to reload the wp-admin folder. I did that. No change. I also reloaded the wp-login.php file. No change. I was considering upgrading to 2.7.1, but when it said to disable any plug ins (I have only two)and I could not do that (since I can’t get to my dashboard) I hesitated going forward with the upgrade.
I appreciate any insights – along with detailed suggestions. As you can see by my explaination, I am not particularly “techi”.
    Thanks for your help!!!!

  • If you have an .htaccess file, temporarily rename it to see if you get the login.

    If necessary:
How to deactivate all plugins when not able to access the administrative menus?

Sorry to be so dense – do I just rename it like .htaccess1 in my file manager? What will that do?

Well in theory .htaccess could be causing the problem, so I was suggesting ‘get it out of the equation’.

I renamed the file (after I backed it up) and refreshed the files. Then the error changed from http 404 to an Internal server error. I put it back as it was originally and now I’m back to the http 404 error.
    What’s next?

Did the internal server error generate a log file of some kind that might shed some light on the problem?

Hopefully this will shed some light on for you – I confess it’s greek to me!
    Steph

Not sure–see if your host can shed some light on that.

Could be that your files have the wrong permission setting for your host.
