Large wfStatus, wfFileMods and wfKnownFileList tables

    Quick Q – on one of my installations I’m noting really large wfStatus (300,000+) and wfFileMods/wfKnownFileList tables (180,000+). These are understandably taking up a lot of space in my database – is there anything I can do to clean these up to reduce their size that won’t affect WordFence’s operation?

    Thanks in advance – absolutely love this plugin, but a bit concerned on these tables!!

    The “wfFileMods” table is used when we do a scan to store all files we encounter during the scan. Files are flagged as knownFile or not a knownFile, depending on whether they’re a recognized core, theme or plugin file or not; this table can be cleared (emptied not deleted) but not during a scan.

    The “wfKnownFileList” table is where the scan stores its index while scanning; it should only be full when a scan is running.

    The “wfStatus” table contains the Wordfence activity log you see in the yellow boxes on the scan page. It’s also what you see when you ‘view activity log’ or email the activity log anywhere; it can be cleared however note that this will blank the activity log.
