My First Blog! What do you think?

  • Hello, I’m brand new to word-press and to the world of blogging. But, I used to teach, and I miss it, so I thought I would share my design knowledge with new designers through a blog. I’d love to hear what you think — I know it will be a work in progress, and hopefully will evolve over time.

    Thanks so much! I want to add a graphic footer next – I’m not loving the way it kind of fades away at the bottom. I feel like it needs to be anchored by something….

    I would love to check out your site etdsbastar, but it looks like your link has been removed? Maybe try putting it in the message instead of the signature?

    Beautiful site. I really like the clean, uncluttered feel of it. Looks like great content, too. I bookmarked it so I can go back and read it when I have some time.

    I added a bunch of content, so it’s much easier to see how the posts work now. I’m still trying to figure out how to get the sidebar to show up on EVERY page…even the individual post pages. I’m good with html and css, but I’m just learning php…

    look in your theme’s single.php (posts page)and page.php (Page page) for the sidebar call – if not there – add it

    Thanks Samboll, I’ll try that! I may be back for help if it doesn’t work ??

    I’m also having another issue.

    My stats say that many people are seeing “404 Page not Found” errors. I’ve clicked on every single link from every place online I could find, and I’ve not been able to get the 404 error.

    If anyone gets the 404 error from this site, could you please let me know in this forum post? And maybe tell me what country you are in? I’m upset that people aren’t able to get to my site, and I can’t figure out what the problem is.

    I’m in the US and every link clicked on worked.

    Very nice site. My only complaint is that your sidebar is so much longer than the content on most of your pages. You are right about the need for a footer to anchor the page. Consider reducing the number of widgets, or cutting back on the number of recent posts to shorten it up a bit.
