I am looking to make the white space height larger and move the footer down, but all I can manage to elongate is the white space with the scrolling bar.

2.) How do I create footer widgets in the existing widget structure? The previous developer just built everything custom with no structure in the wp dashboard and I am trying to update it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Also is it possible to install visual composer or a page builder to help with updates in the future?

You need to get rid of the fixed height CSS for #picshadow and #subMain containers. Either set height: to “auto” or remove.

To add widget areas to a theme, please check out the Theme Handbook. Widget areas are still called “sidebars” in WP even though they can occur anywhere on a page.

I’m pretty sure Visual composer is available as a plugin, but I’ve noticed many people have trouble with it. It’s a very complex app and compatibility issues seem to keep cropping up. I’d suggest you give Gutenberg a try. It is slated to be part of WP core sometime in the not too distant future. It’s far from VC, but novices might find it helpful. Experienced users often hate it, often just because it’s different. The original content should be created in Gutenberg for it to be useful in editing. Editing imported content gets little benefit from Gutenberg.

It’s also possible to style the TinyMCE visual tab to appear like front end pages so that it is more or less WYSIWYG without special plugins.
