I just set up this page. I did not put any text into “About the Book,” but when I preview the page, it shows up with “related books” that I didn’t add, and which have nothing to do with my book. How do I remove these so-called “related books”?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mirseidel,

It appears this “related” section that you have on your books is something added by your theme. As you can see it shows up on normal posts under the post content on your site such as here, and apparently it is treating MyBookTable books like normal posts and adding it to them as well. Determining exactly how to fix this issue would depend entirely on how your theme is implemented, and it doesn’t appear to be one we’ve worked with before. We’ve tried very hard to make MyBookTable as compatible as possible with as many themes as we can, but it’s impossible for any plugin with this kind of complex functionality to have perfect compatibility with all WordPress themes out of the box. You may want to contact the theme authors and ask if they have any suggestions for disabling the related posts section on custom post types.

By the way it looks like the “related posts” that it’s adding on your book pages are other books you have active in your book list. You can delete these example books that came with the plugin when it was installed by going to the WordPress Admin Menu, hovering over the “MyBookTable” section, and going to the “Books” page. From there you can delete MyBookTable books just as you would normal blog posts, as described here. This may cause the “related posts” section on your book to disappear as there are no other books on your site for it to put in that section, but this is just a guess on my part as I have never used your theme before.

Thanks, that worked! Since I’m using the Twentyfourteen theme, that seems like it should be able to work with your programming. I think what happened was that I clicked on “sample books,” and it populated with those books/authors/genres. I was able to remove them all.

    Hi @mirseidel,

We do fully support the Twenty Fourteen theme, I didn’t realize that’s what you were using so I had to guess as to whether or not it was the cause of the extra elements. If you are using Twenty Fourteen theme, then the “related posts” section must be caused by a plugin you installed instead of your theme. If you have any further issues with that section, you’ll need to find which plugin is creating it and see if it has any options for disabling the “related posts” section on Custom Post Types, which is what MyBookTable uses for it’s Books.

Glad you found another workaround by removing the rest of the books though in the meantime.
