‘Upgrade to wordpress 2.71 link’ problem

    Hi …

    I’m having a problem with a new wp install. The install seemed to work OK but when I tried to add an RSS widget I could not get it to work. I added feedwordpress plugin and it too would not work. Finally I tried to upgrade to wp 2.71 and it didn’t work either. Here’s what I get.

    On feedwordpress I am getting an error:
    name lookup timed out whenever I try to add a URL

    With the RSS Widget: I get an error that URL is not found

    When I try the ‘upgrade to wordpress 2.71’ link at the top of the dashboard and try to automatically update I get: Download failed.: name lookup timed out

    It looks like a communications problem. Any ideas what’s going on and how to fix it?

    I’ve had the host tech support working on this for three hours! No luck so far. Ayone have any ideas of how to fix thius?

    Sounds like your server doesn’t have DNS set up, so it can’t contact any outside sites.

    Nobody can fix that but your host.

    Hi … thanks for that tip. The host tech support people have tried it using wp 2.6 and it works OK. But when they load 2.71 it doesn’t work. Is that any clue?
