    Hey,
I routinely clean my hard drive, deleting internet cache and cookies and temp files and recycle bin and the like. I did that tonight, nothing I haven’t done a million times before. Except for the first time I can’t get logged into my WordPress site. I click on the blue “Log in with WordPress.com” button and am taken immediately to a page that says:

    Your connection is not secure.
The owner of https://www.noapologybookreviews.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.
https://www.noapologybookreviews.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

I don’t remember this ever happening since I started the site a year and a half ago. I don’t know what it means and I don’t know what to do to fix it. The only cause I can think of is maybe I deleted something I shouldn’t have, but I didn’t change any settings or options or anything when I cleaned, so I don’t know how that would have happened. The site seems to be accessible to the public, it comes up fine when I type in https://www.noapologybookreviews.com. It just won’t let me log in to the dashboard.

I’m using Firefox 57.0.4 and I’m connected to wireless internet via Frontier–I don’t think I’ve had problems with this wireless connection before. Let me know what else I can tell you that’s helpful. Thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Which URL do you use to login into your dashboard?

https://www.noapologybookreviews.com/wp-login.php works just fine at my end. Even I click on the blue “Log in with WordPress.com” button, it works just fine and won’t give me any error.

I clicked on the link you provided and had the same issue, so I’m wondering if it’s something with my internet connection. I stayed w my gma last night and was on her internet, I’ll see if I have the same problem at home later this morning, we have a different provider. Thanks

Nope, I’m still having the issue at home, too. Here we use LTD Broadband instead of Frontier. So if it’s not the website, not the provider, it must be something with my computer, right? I’m baffled–and starting to panic, because I need to moderate things on my site before much longer. I really, REALLY hope I don’t have to start over, that’ll take days. Help!

FIGURED IT OUT – it was indeed my computer. I read that antivirus software can interfere with website certificates, and I remembered installing an update for Windows Defender last night before this problem started. I went in and turned off the firewall for our private network, and the problem was resolved. Sooo I guess I’ll leave it off for now and have a chat with Windows.

    Glad that it’s sorted.
