Wondering: ‘Can I work locally, then upload?’

I’m not positive, but I would think that you’d have to work online since everything is stored in a sql databse. There’s always saving in a word processor then cutting/pasting, but I don’t think that’s what you’re trying to get at.

You have to remember that your content is held in the database. So, if you wanted to be uploading your database to your server all the time, then you can do just that.

you could always tyoe them up in notepad and cut and paste later :p

I stumbled across “ecto.” It’s lets you edit your weblog offline.

Is there other software out there that does the same?

15.53 a?? after the trial period. No mention of WordPress in the setup. Can’t really see the point, any text editor and a cut and paste will do the same thing.

Uploading your database would overwrite comments and such, wouldn’t it?

you’d only need to upload changes to wp_post database (I think that’s what it’s called) I’m pretty sure comments are stored in another database.

wp_posts is a table rather than a database.
Can you upload a table separately (individually)?
I’m not a MySQL guru, but I know in databases that I am more familiar with it’s not just a simple file upload for a table. You’d probably have to do INSERTs.
Also, uploading databases (or tables) would overwrite other posts in a multi-author blog.

setup: choose custom blogtool and fill in the correct paths. The ‘page’ you should use is xmlrpc.php in the root of your wordpress installation.
