• Hi there,

I have ‘blog style’ page where all my posts are posted in order on the front page.
I have a Home Page that I have redirected to the front page with a Custom Link so the Home Page I have in ‘Pages’ is blank, which hasn’t been an issue until now.

I am trying to create a snippet for Google and the problem is, if I create this on the Home Page, my edits don’t show up on Google.

I’ve tried editing it in Yoast Meta Titles and it’s still not showing what I’ve put in.

    Please can you help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @themakeupbook,
Google can take some time to recrawl your site and update its results. To test changes you may want to use the Structured Data Testing Tool and the Google Search Console.
If I have understood your problem incorrectly please feel free to clarify.

Ahh okay. I wasn’t aware it took time.

The problem is, I’m not sure I’m inserting the correct information in the right place for it to show correctly on Google.

For example, I want Google to show:

The Makeup Book – Beauty Blog
    https://www.themakeupbook.com
The Makeup Book is a Beauty Blog where you will find makeup and skin care reviews as well as tips, advice and information related to beauty.

What it is actually showing is:
A post name of one of the posts
    and no meta description.

I have updated the Titles and Metas (Home Page) as well the Home Page via the Dashboard.

This is what is showing on Title Template:
    %%sitename%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitedesc%%

I’ve also tried deleting this and then actually typing the name in.

Not sure where I am going wrong? Hope this clarifies my issue a bit more.

    Hi @themakeupbook,

It’s probably happening because a home page and a blog page has not yet been set for your website.

From your WP Dashboard, go to Settings>Reading and then set a home page and a blog page.

Once it’s done, set up Yoast again and the website should load your preferred title and description.

Another point to note here is that if you set a homepage and then redirect it to a different page, Google will crawl the page it’s redirecting to, not the home page. So you must set your preferred title and description to the final page, not the one from which you’re redirecting traffic.

    Hope this helps!
