Akismet API code

  • I am trying to install the Akismet plugin and almost have it – it’s looking for the api code, but am unable to find. i have gone thru the original emails from wordpress and there isn’t a code in the welcome email. i have tried to find it on the USERS/MY PROFILE page, and it’s not there either. Is there something i’m missing? any help appreciated. thank you very much!

    i already have the blog etc. do i have to sign up a 2nd time for this code?? my blog is up and running with wordpress….

    Since you’re on this forum, I suppose you have a self-hosted blog using WP as software?
    WP.COM is another game (not self-hosted), but you indeed still have to sign up there to get an API key.
    Can’t help it, it was not my idea ??
    And if it helps, I don’t use Akismet, but Bad Behavior in combination with JS Spamblock, so I don’t need that API key.
