Can not be activated, fatal error

The plugin can not be activated, it shows a fatal error:
Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /home/cba2kes/public_html/username/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-mercadopago/woocommerce-mercadopago.php on line 864

that line has:
if ( empty( $product->get_weight() ) || ! is_numeric( $product->get_weight() ) ) {

we are using wordpres 4.9.1, and woocommerce 3.2.6

Any idea? that is wrong?
