WordPress mail not working

Hey everyone how’s it going I setup a raspberry pi with the presspi os which runs nginx and WordPress everything is working great except email isn’t working no matter what I try I keep getting 502 gateway error im just not getting it I know it’s a php error I’m almost 100% positive but have no idea where to start looking I’ve searched for weeks with no results can anyone please help me?!
