Its not about plugin.
Its about linking mistake. Just make sure the pdf you linking is exists in the media folder. And after that you can link theme to a button.

Wow! weird …. I used the link you said worked Lisa, copied it and pasted it into the button … and I now get a flash of a page and then the pdf but with a title and no writing on it!!!! So it is still not working.

Not a good day as spent several hours with Apple working out why the pictures on my website aren’t loading … as yet unresolved.

LATEST … it was Cloudflare that was the problem! Just had the site upgraded to https and it was preventing downloading pics and stopping the links.

So in the admin I purged all caches under Performance and then under Settings select Cloudflare then ‘purge caches’ and then ‘purge everything’ … and the whole thing is working like a dream. Information for anyone else who may be agonising over this for the last week.
