    Chester –

I got a little sidetracked on the project, and at the urging of some of the folks at Airtable, ended up building an Airtable-only version of the app. In the process, I solved a number of problems and raised a few more, but in the end I think I hammered out a reasonably solid data model. Now I want to return to my original WordPress/Divi/Airpress/Airtable monstrosity and see if I can make it work.

Accordingly, I wanted to check on the current status of Airpress. I know it comes second to food on the table, loose shoes, and so forth, and I know you were starting to think you might have to rework portions from the ground up, so I can understand why there haven’t been weekly point releases. I just wanted to be sure you had neither let the project go nor had a complete overhaul imminent.

So, can you say a little about what to expect?

    Thanks,
    Vann

At this point it’s on “unofficial hold”—meaning that I didn’t intend to take a break from it but apparently I have!

The real status is that Airpress core functionality seems to be quite stable (as far as my own usage and others bug reports go), and the biggest road-blocks to progress are the interfaces that control the core functionality.

So no major overhauls in the near term, but I’m making slow progress on rethinking how to expose the core functionality of Airpress. For example, I want to allow TRIGGERS to run QUERIES the output of which are fed into ACTIONS. Add then to have a custom-meta box on each page/page (optionally) that could override any of those. Also, I want to allow multiple QUERIES/ACTIONS per page/post so that multiple bases/tables/objects can be displayed in a single load.

Also, this TRIGGER/QUERY/ACTION architecture would allow Zapier-like functionality (on wp-cron trigger, get these records, update them in this way.)

So I haven’t given up—and while I’m spending most of my time in Laravel, it’s helping germinate better ideas for optimization and functionality (my original inspiration for AirpressCollections was based on Laravel Collections—I just didn’t really know it!).

Anyway, maybe I should start a Patreon profile and see if enough people want/need this to support this.

I would donate. I would really like to see the ability to run functions from results of the query. Something else that may help would be a tool to test the query before putting it into the code. Right now you play with the code, save and view the page. It would be nice to have a tool to work out the code prior to publishing.

    Hi Chetmac-

I would donate on Patreon for sure. We are really seeing the potential of AirPress as a flexible solution for inputting unique fields into WP, simply. If we can solve a few details, it could be a breakthrough solution.

    I would also donate!
