• I’ve added a <meta> description and <meta> keywords tags to my index.php file… Everything is ok and the description shows on Google… BUT,

How do I entered individual Meta for individual posts?

The Codex did not explain where to enter this data and each post on Google has the main (index.php) meta tag information?

I know that All in one SEO pack doesn’t work and I can add the meta to individual posts myself — where and how would I do that?

    Thanks everyone, cheers

  • If you’re not using a plugin then you would need to modify your theme header so that there was a condition around the meta tags. Things like is_post() is_category() can be useful.

    thanks, mrmist…

what other plugin aside from All-in-one SEO could I use to enter META for individual posts?

Also, “things like is_post…” doesn’t help me much, sorry, I’m not a PHP wiz and don’t know how to do that…

Some help would be great, I have a nice post that’s getting a lot of hits but the META isn’t correct (it is the meta for the index.php page)

    Thanks!!!!

additionally, a lot of people claim meta-tags are irrelevant, but some SE’s still use them and other directory services as well…

that’ why i’d like to know how ??

    BUMP

    I use Head META Description.

As for meta descriptions, it’s far better to have no meta descriptions than the same meta description on each page. If you can’t get a plugin to work for you, I’d recommend removing your static (index) meta description.
