Blog post sidebar parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF

  • I made my site live using FileZilla and noticed the blog section is broken. The main menu and side bar are not visible and there is an error message:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/emilyjane/public_html/anphucamerica/wp-content/themes/one-page-express/sidebar.php on line 1

    I’ve looked into the sidebar.php and there isn’t anything wrong with the file. When I am working on the site locally the blog section shows no errors and works wonderfully. I’ve tried to research and read that uploading the plugins with the site using FTP could break a wordpress theme. So I deleted the plugins but still the theme is broken.

    Anyone know why the sidebar.php is breaking when its uploaded using FTP?

    I looked into that link and the error seems not to reproduce.
