• A client of mind moved their installation of wordpress from the blog directory to the root, i am not sure if they followed directions that wordpress provides on moving directories but now the media library is not showing images when you upload them. There is no visible error message they just do not show up as a thumbnail and when you click view they do not show up either. I do not think they are being uploaded in the “upload” folder either.

    Any ideas?

If they moved the site around, then in the database, all the links to the images are no longer valid. You need to do a search and replace on the database to fix the URLs and the filenames for them.

Would this affect new images being uploaded as well?

Not unless they have some kind of incorrect settings for the upload file paths on the Settings->Miscellaneous page.

Under misc settings it stills said blog.sitename.com so i removed the blog part and now i am getting an error while attempting to uplaod:

Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I chmod 777 wp-content, uploads, 2009 and 01, i even renamed 2009 to something else i hopes that it would recreate the dir but it isn’t.

fixed it by removing the trailing slash in front of /wp-content/uploads in the misc section. Thanks.
