Very Basic SEO Plugin

I’ve been using Yoast premium for about two years. Once you dive into SEO a bit, you realize the limitations of this plugin and how it greatly oversimplifies things. Personally, I don’t like the juvenile cartoons and dumbing-down of such an important topic. But if you don’t want to spend a lot of time on SEO, this plugin will at least give you some ideas as to what you need to do when writing content and internally linking. It’s weakest link (no pun intended) is probably keywords. For example, it has no ability to understand keyword variations. It wants you to– artificially– repeat the same keyword or phrase over and over again without any variations. In fact, if you do something as simple as make a singular noun plural, the plugin won’t recognize that use of the keyword or phrase. It’s greatest strengths are reminding you to cover the basics and the ability to add redirects without difficulty (when, say, you change a slug/URL).
