Scan process ended after forking for WordFence and it wont scan

At first WordFence would not scan so I looked on your site and was recommended to do the following:
Enabled Start all scans remotely
checked plugins to make sure there were none “under construction”
Made srue our servers are not blocked from reaching the site
Checked the database tables
checked AJAX Handler
I enabled debugging mode

I made the changes and it started to Scan, but it would not finish and gave me a message in the activity log:
Scan Process Ended after Forking.

I found an article that says to tuning the Maximum execution time for each scan stage parameter, but no matter what setting I change it to it still give me the Scan Process has Ended after Forking error

I found an article to disable SSL Verification, but Im under instructions NOT to do that.

I’m wondering what troubleshooting steps I can do to get WordFence Scan to start scanning?
