• When attempting to build a sitemap, I receive the following errors:

Warning: fopen(/kunden/homepages/19/d266133571/htdocs/blog/blog.php/sitemap.xml) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Not a directory in /homepages/19/d266133571/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap-core.php on line 1692

Warning: gzopen(/kunden/homepages/19/d266133571/htdocs/blog/blog.php/sitemap.xml.gz) [function.gzopen]: failed to open stream: Not a directory in /homepages/19/d266133571/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap-core.php on line 1705

This is gibberish to me. Can someone tell me in laymen’s terms what this means?

  • H there, its not very clear from the code, but, can you explain where you have put the sitemap.xml and the sitemap.xml.gz files.
also a link to your site would help.

My site is https://www.timothyjevanslaw.com. The WP blog is located at https://www.timothyjevanslaw.com/blog/blog.

The sitemap.xml is at https://www.timothyjevanslaw.com/wordpress/sitemap.xml. The .gz is in the same directory and is sitemap.xml.gz.

Hi again, all pages bring up errors, I’m baffled by all the directories
    /blog/blog /wordpress
how do you actually get into your website?
A the moment your main address https://www.timothyjevanslaw.com./
goes to an index.html page, index.html
I eventually found your blog 2.7 here
    https://www.timothyjevanslaw.com/blog/blog.php/
Have you moved the blogs index page?
    mike.
Ps your sitemap.xml is coming up with a parse error, have you set the permissions on sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.gz to 666

My own ignorance is probably going to prevent me from receiving help …

You’re dealing with someone who knows next to nothing on building or setting up a website. The directory structure was set up by RapidWeaver, which I used to create the site. I use WP for my blog, and all of its files are kept in the wordpress directory of my domain.

As far as the index page for the blog, I cannot recall moving it. I use a plugin that applies a RapidWeaver theme to WP; I don’t know if that would affect it or not. Using cyberduck, I can see an index.php file in the wordpress directory.

Both of the sitemap files are set to 666.

Hi again, sorry you’ve had no luck yet. when I go to your wordpress directory I get a theme error.
I can get to your login page.

I presume you can still login as admin, can you try changing your themeto the default. I believe you currently have the silhouette-3column theme selected, seems to be causing a problem.

Ok, theme changed to the default.

Hi again, you seem to be winning, no more errors.
If you really need to use the previous theme you could see if its avaulable, so you caninstall yourself manually.

    all the best.
