I tried wiping and starting over, multiple times and I keep getting “ERROR: Have not yet obtained an access token from Google”.

I deauthorized Updraft, reauthroized, and wiped and get the same error.

I tried looking up post for the solution and there is nothing like this, you have a recent update where we now can’t setup individual projects, it’s automatic and it’s not working. What do I do now?

Also, it says “(You appear to be already authenticated, though you can authenticate again to refresh your access if you’ve had a problem).”

I’ve also tried uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling, that didn’t work either. I still get “Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.” even though I went through all of the Drive Setup here

    Hi,

Where are you seeing this error? Shown as info on your last backup? Or when you start a new one?

P.S. If you want to use the old “configure your own app” flow, then add this in wp-config.php:

    define('UPDRAFTPLUS_CUSTOM_GOOGLEDRIVE_APP', true);

It is when I try to backup. It shows the error in the log and on the current status page. The backups are shown as incomplete. Should I try to use the old flow? Is there instructions still?

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

We do still have a guide for setting up your own app:
    https://updraftplus.com/support/configuring-google-drive-api-access-in-updraftplus/

After authorising using the new flow, what is the full contents of the ‘success’ message that you receive after being redirected back to your site (removing account details)?

I have the same issue, and it just started happening on a couple sites that were previously working.

The forums mention using a different project, but I don’t see any way to set Updraftplus to use one project vs another. I also don’t see any way to set credentials to authenticate to the drive api app.

    Help!

    Hi @teamveritas,

If you want to setup a custom Google Drive app e.g one where you enter your own project ID, client ID and secret then follow the guide here:

    https://updraftplus.com/support/configuring-google-drive-api-access-in-updraftplus/

Note: the part about adding a line to your wp-config.php file

If you don’t want to do that then you can use our Google Drive app which is a lot easier all you have to do is select Google Drive, save and then follow the link that pops up.

Full instructions for that can be found here:
    https://updraftplus.com/support/using-updraftplus-google-drive-app/

If you have already setup one of the above methods and you need an access token then the easiest way to get it is to click the link:

“(You appear to be already authenticated, though you can authenticate again to refresh your access if you’ve had a problem).”

That is found under the Google Drive section in your UpdraftPlus settings.

    Best Wishes,

    AShley

    Dear all

I have been having the same problem as many other people regarding the not able to backup my WordPress website using UpdraftPlus (free version)
It has worked fine for many months with no problems at all but after updating WordPress to the newest version and all Plugins I have the same problem as lots of you.

I followed everything in the link below to the letter to try to rectify the problem:
    https://updraftplus.com/support/using-updraftplus-google-drive-app/

I got right to the very end where it shows the Orange UpdraftPlus Box and clicked on ‘Complete Setup’ (whereby I see code showing successful access token) which took me back to my own WordPress site

Tried to once again to do a Back Up with Updraft Plus.
It showed ‘backup in progress’ and Creating file backups etc etc as if it was working and then once again I get the messages:
Waiting until scheduled time to retry because of errors
Have not yet obtained an access token from Google – you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.
I am also going to cancel automatic backups too as I keep 20 backups only. When the new backups fail it will push the old (good) backups off the end and I’ll just be left with incomplete failed ones instead.
It does seem strange that so many people have had what is now a very longstanding problem and no real easy fix appears to be on hand

I also completed the task whereby it states on my WordPress site – ‘Authenticate with Google’
I see the (you appear to be already authenticated though you can authenticate again to refresh your access if you’ve had a problem). Follow this link to remove this site’s settings for Google Drive.
Again I do everything to the letter, following all the prompts. Everything comes back OK but I get the same results as above whereby I need my Google Access Token etc

Do I need to totally uninstall UpdraftPlus and reinstall as following all advice read to date in the Forum does not appear to work for me?
It’s driving me mad with constant tries and getting nowhere after spending many hours on this so far.

Any advice please keep simple as I am not a web developer just a fairly handy amateur.

    Regards

    Mike

I have the same error described by Mike. I have tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing with no success.
Could it have to do with other Google apps authorized on the same site, such as maps apis and login with Google?

The recent update (1.14.2) solved the issue for me.
