Firstly, I love the plugin, it’s excellent.

But I immediately noticed that if you enable “Read more” (which I need to as many of my Announcements are quite long), it shows even on posts where there is no more to read.

This is not a showstopper but it is an irritation and it reduces usability and user satisfaction.

Is there any way to prevent it from showing, in those posts that don’t have any more to read?

    Hi @shdgfshfgwdfg,

Thank you for the kind words! There are a few methods of hiding the read more links when the excerpts don’t require them – but require adding some custom code into your themes functions.php file or into an MU plugin.

If you are comfortable adding custom code to your website, I would be more than happy to provide you a code snippet you can use to add to your site which will achieve this.

Thank you, that’s a generous offer. I’ve managed to work around it by using the HTML snippets plugin, disabling the “Read more”, and if there is actually more to read, putting it in a blog post instead and creating a manual link to it at the end of the Announcement. It works pretty well. If you’re interested the timeline is here: https://ckrat.uk/timeline

    Thanks again ??

    No problem at all @shdgfshfgwdfg,

Thanks so much for letting us know and your timeline is looking great! The no icons add-on is really working well on your site.

    Have a great week!

I have the same issue. Could you proved a code snippet for me?

    Hi @audunmb,

Are you looking to just hide the read more links when the content of the announcement isn’t long enough to need a single, interior page?

We can look at what might be needed for this and provide some code.

Yes. I’d like to hide the Read more-link if the text is shorter than the excerpt length (as there is nothing more to read).
Actually, I thought that was the default, but now it shows for every post.

    No reply here?
I think the issue is that I had to use a custom Read more-link (https://www.wp-timelineexpress.com/documentation/not-announcements-read-link/) as the plugin isn’t translated to Norwegian, and then a “Read more” is shown on all announcements.
