I just installed this plugin and so far it seems great. i do have a few questions though that i haven’t been able to figure out on my own:

    1. On the posts themselves, I was wondering if I could remove this share button on the side and the grey “welcome!” box: https://www.howamifeeling.org/discussion-topics/test/

    2. Where is the comment box on the individual posts? The only kind of comment box that pops up is from my disqus plugin but not this forum plugin.

    3. Is there a way to make the discussion topics visible to people who aren’t logged in?

    4. Is there a way for the page to redirect after someone has typed in their info to register on the site?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi

    1. That looks like it’s from the theme and/or another plugin to me. It’s not related to the Discussion Board plugin.
    2. If you have a Disqus plugin, that will override the standard WordPress comments, which is what DB uses. Is it possible to set Disqus to only display on certain post types?
    3. Yes: https://catapultthemes.com/document/users-cant-view-topics/
    4. Yes, use the ‘Redirect on log-in setting’: https://catapultthemes.com/document/general-tab/

I found out a few of my issues are because WordPress categorizes these discussion board posts as blog posts, I don’t know how (or if it’s possible) to correct that somehow?

The topics are a different post type from standard blog posts.

    1. Well, some of the same things I have for blog posts are showing up on discussion boards. Such as my share icons

    2. I also deactivated all of my plugins except DB and the grey welcome box still showed up. From what I can tell it’s a thing to show previous posts and I don’t want that to show up.

    3. I checked the viewer user rolls and the one that’s missing is an ‘anonymous’ user role because that’s what people are considered when they aren’t logged into the site. I need that to be available for people just viewing the discussion boards.

    4. Is there a way to upload an ID pic for the people who do register on the site?

    1. Maybe so, but topics are a custom post type, not blog posts. The share icons are from your theme.

    2. The grey welcome box is possibly also from the theme – it’s not from the plugin.

    3. There’s no ‘anonymous’ user role in WP. Just deselect all roles in the Permitted viewer roles field.

    4. Avatars are set by gravatar.com

Is there a way to pin a topic to the top of the message board?

Also thank you for answering all of my questions!

    You’re welcome.

There’s not a way to pin topics – but it’s a good idea and I will add that to a future version.

I did a test run of everything just now and noticed that when someone gets a comment on their post, the notification email includes the commenter’s IP address and email. is there a way to remove that? that seems a bit invasive

Hi – that’s standard WordPress behaviour, it’s not something added by the plugin.

I seem to have come across a weird issue. So, when I would log into the backend of my website I would do it through the admin php login URL but now since installing this forum plugin, it makes me login through there and won’t load the original admin login anymore. Is this normal? It also logs me out randomly

In Discussion Board > Settings > General tab, deselect the Hide WP Login? checkbox.
