Sandbox Theme – sidebar not extending full length that my widgets overflow.

I am using the Sandbox theme, and have ported the AoC site to a my site, and was able to get my sidebar to show by use of widgets, however, to place these widgets where they belong, I used position:absolute in my css, which takes the widgets out of the flow of the template. Do I need to get rid of my absolute positioning, or what?
