Custom post type categories

Asking this question again, as it has been asked several times and the question is just mysteriously closed without an answer. I have added a form to be used as a front-end editor of a custom post type. I set up a “categories” field, configured it to auto-populate and then for Source, chose “Post Type”. In the next field, for post type, I chose the actual custom post type, which did appear. I added the processor However, in the form it does not show the categories for that post type. Instead, it shows the names of the articles in that post type. Does this feature not work? Please, is there anyone who can answer this?
