I’m using WordPress for my blog and I noticed that one particular “phrase” was just disappearing. In my post I describe looking for virtualhost settings for Apache and adding Strict-Transport-Security headers to enable HSTS, however, when I add the actual section of the conf to look for <VirtualHost IPADDRESS:443> (preformatted, even), it mysteriously isn’t there after saving a draft or previewing or publishing.

After a time I discovered that WordPress simply deletes this text from the post body, making it look like I’m just an idiot that forgot to add this thing people should be looking for.

So what is WordPress doing here? Is there a document or repo describing forbidden phrases and an explanation? Shouldn’t WordPress ALERT US when something is removed?

    I can’t reproduce that. See https://bertha.sterndata.com/test/

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

I still can’t get WordPress to display the bit of code properly, as it does here on the forum. I’ve made a small change to the post that has made it show almost like it should, but it’ll do. I’ve also had similar problems trying to post JavaScript on the blog so maybe it’s just a mark up thing. I wonder why it is perfect here, though?

The forums use a different editor (more restrictive).

Generally, you cannot drop Javascript into a post. It’s blocked as a security measure.
