Taxonomies are shown in wrong language

  • Hi,

    I created lists of tags and customs taxonomies to display them on respective pages. I have 3 languages registered: English, Spanish and French.

    After the last update (to 2.2.3) the taxonomies are displayed in wrong language and I can’t even figure out the logic of it.

    All the tags are in English for 3 languages: https://learnrussiandaily.com/es/tag/vocabulario-basico/

    Other taxonomies are in Spanish only: https://learnrussiandaily.com/part-of-speech/noun/

    None of the taxonomies is displayed in French.

    One thing I fufured out: if you select a language in admin (from top bar), the taxonomies are displayed only in that language.

    Another thing, which I noticed already on 2 sites where I use Polylang, when I try to deactivate the plugin, the site gives a fatal error. The plugin is impossible to deactivate from admin panel.

    Please advise.

    Hi,

    Could you clarify how you display the taxonomies. Is it with the theme? With a plugin? With custom code?

    Another thing, which I noticed already on 2 sites where I use Polylang, when I try to deactivate the plugin, the site gives a fatal error. The plugin is impossible to deactivate from admin panel.

    That’s generally due to wrong custom code. If you use a Polylang function without ckecking that the function exists then you get a fatal error as soon as you deactivate the plugin. This also prevents the plugin to be updated (a it is deactviated by WP during the update). See the IMPORTANT section: https://polylang.pro/doc/function-reference/
