Styling for WordPress Default-Theme Twenty Fourteen

I’m using the default theme Twenty Fourteen and would love to use the facets with algolia search. Unfortunately the responsive theme doesn’t work quite well with instantsearch.php. On desktop view the content is partly covereden with the left black menubar of the theme. Could anybody help me with the adjustments?
