PolyLang gave me a blank home page

I installed Polylang and set English (AU) as the default language and Spanish (ES) as the alternative language.

I then dragged the Language Switcher to the sidebar in the WP dashboard.

When I checked my site, my home page was blank (message: your selection was not available).

So I immediately uninstalled PolyLang. Seems like a risky plugin if it can make my home page blank.

Also, I have another concern about PolyLang changing my URLs. If PolyLang adds an /en/ tag to all my URLs, won’t that break all my existing links (eg from the search engines)?
