GSuite

I have a gsuite account that is used for my mail. I have changed records for gsuite at my host so mail goes through my gmail account. I have set up with the smtp for gmail and the gmail login and it would not send and I have set up with the host email account that the gsuite uses for domain based email and still get errors. Which should be working?
