Do not allow alphanumeric usernames

Hello all,

I am running Ultimate Member plugin simultaneously with another plugin which is profile based as well. However, creating a username demo.user in Ultimate member plugin is creating broken links for the other plugin because demo.user redirects to demo-user. Is there any way that I could disallow use of symbols ( . , @ _ -) while registering a username in the registration form?

Another issue that I get is in the edit account tab while changing the name fields. Whenever I try to save the changes, it gives me an error: Your username is invalid!

Please guide me through the same.
