Upgrade to 4.8.2 – overall problems

    I’ve upgraded to 4.8.2 and have following errors:

    * Can’t log in, need to delete cookies to be able to log in. But afterwards the problem reappears
    * Feed link is gone ( https://depblog.weblogs.us/feed )
    * Only 1 plugin is activated ( Akismet ), can’t enable other
    * Can’t delete draft posts
    * Can’t save new text into draft post
    * Can’t unactivate current theme

    So in general I can’t do anything anymore.
    Any tips?

  • Sound like your theme is not updated to work with 4.8.2. You should try asking at the theme developer’s forum here https://athemes.com/forums/

    Hello, Depechie, & welcome. The first thing I note is that your theme has not been updated by the authors in over 2 years. That may have something to do w/your problem. Doing what I’m about to suggest will break the site, but it may allow you to log in. Using either your hosting provider’s file manager or FTP (preferably secure FTP), you can change your theme folder name by appending a 1 or a .old, ie, hiero1 or hiero.old & see if that allows you to log in. The plugins folder name can also be changed to plugins1, which will disable all plugins. This is, of course, a temporary measure. Once you’re able to log in, you can activate a default theme (they begin w/the word ‘twenty’) & then begin activating plugins 1 by 1 & logging in each time until the login fails, at which point you likely know which plugin is causing the problem. Be aware that caching plugins, while they can be very valuable, may also often cause problems like this, so that & your theme may be a good starting point.

    Ok I only have a default theme running now and akismet as the only plugin.
    This allows me to login ( also after login out ). Current theme is Twenty Fifteen

    But, non of the permalinks work and also the general /feed url is failing.
    For example getting 404 on https://depblog.weblogs.us/2017/07/12/xamarin-forms-tabbed-page-uwp-with-images/
    Although the post is visible from the main url.

    Found out the cause, the .htaccess file was not correct!
    Thx for the help guys
