• I want to evelop several sites on my local server with different themes (modified, of course).
    How can this be done?
At present, I am having difficulties setting up just one site using apache22 httpd-vhosts.conf. I have several sites set up and working fine. But when I try to set up WordPress, it seems impossible. Permissions and ownerships are all muddled and the only way to access such files as wp-install.php and longins etc. is by addressing the actual local host files and then things don’t work because of permission problems. And there are very, very vague instructions about installation… such as the passwords for security – there is no indication what the password phrases are for – to seure what? a password? which one? What does it mean, you can set up WordPress apart from the website main (document) pages? It’s all so vague!
Is there any hope of getting some clear indication of how to set things up? And as to security, permission and ownership issues, I, for one, don’t need them for development purposes… I just want to work on content and management of the site, not on installation and configureation… Whlen I go online, those kinds of things will be the realm of the hosting service. Why cant this stuff be simplified?

Unfortunately all these “geeks” or is it “programmers” are pretty full of ****… they forget that there are those of us who want to use the program and are willing to put some effort in working with these “open source” things…

Is there any hope of getting some clear indication of how to set things up?

    I’d say slim to none.
