I have a WordPress site with a main page and a separate download page that has some text on it and 2 download links for files that the user of the site can download. I know this is dumb because I did this myself several months ago but now I can’t remember where the information that points to the 2 files is. If I go into the download page on the dashboard the text is displayed but not the links. If I go into the dashboard and click on Downloads/All Downloads (site using Download Monitor) I see a single entry (there are 2 downloads on the download page, so not sure what’s going on there) and if I then click on Edit there a screen with blanks appears. Can anyone clear this up for me? My site has Download Monitor, so is that what I’m actually using? The site works but I need to understand what’s going on. Ultimate goal is to implement logging of downloads.

  • Hey @projecttoday,

I am not sure what exactly you are looking for. Are you searching for the download URL or some description for the downloads? Which version of our plugin are you using?

My site has Download Monitor 1.9.7 installed and activated.

Yes, I’m searching for a URL and the text associated with it or whatever it is that defines the download. This is the download screen as seen by the users. The red texts at the bottom are the actual downloads. This is the page on the dashboard. Note that the red text doesn’t appear.

    Hello,

Please note that you have placed custom text and linked it to a download. If you have created the downloads using our plugin, then they should be available under the “Downloads” menu in your WordPress admin.

Do you mean this? Or should I be looking elsewhere? If I have 2 downloads but only 1 appears on this screen does that mean my downloads are not coming via the Download Monitor plugin?

    Hello,

This seems like a draft. So I believe the downloads would be not from our plugin. Instead of screenshots, can you please share a link to your page or just the 2 download links that you are using?

Well, I want to get download counts. So, if you’re sure I’m not using Download Monitor for the downloads then wouldn’t you recommend that I switch to Download Monitor? Does that support 2 links on 1 page? (I want to do whatever is simpler. But I need the counts.)

In order for you to look at the page I have to deactivate Under Construction.

    Hello,

Before I can recommend anything, please deactivate the “Under Construction” page and share with us a link so we can learn a bit more.

Well, if I deactivate Under Construction people can download the files. And I would have no way of knowing if someone has downloaded or not. I’d really like to know if somebody has downloaded one of the files so I’d like to avoid deactivating Under Construction at least for now.

I think the links are in a file called .htaccess. Would you know where this file is?

    Hey there,

In order to help you we need to be able to view the page that hosts the downloads. Would there be any way you can allow us temporary access to your website? If so, please contact us via https://www.download-monitor.com/contact/

    Kind Regards,

    Barry Kooij
