Allowing a few people to see my site

Good day experts,

I’m in the process of creating a site but it will have to constantly be checked by a panel of members to see if we are progressing in the right direction.

I have currently installed a maintenance plugin so all anyone visiting can see is the website stating it’s under maintenance.

However, is there any method to create a certain link where only people using that link can see the website, without the need to login to the dashboard to view the site.

One person suggested I develop the site in a different sub folder and then move it to the root folder once we are done developing but doesn’t this require extensive work once we’ve completed the site?
