Content area won’t show if static home page

Hi,
Just installed the Baton theme and here is my experience. When any page is set as the static homepage, the content area of that page is completely not displayed. Only the header and footer will show for the homepage. But the content area of other pages will continue to be displayed as expected. When you now take a different page that is showing fine and make it the static homepage, the content area of that page now ceases to be displayed and the content area of the previous homepage (which is no longer the current homepage) are displayed. Something is wrong somewhere. Anybody else with this experience?
