Automatic Plug Upgrade and Installation Issue

I have just updated to the latest version of wordpress.

Since upgrading my google sitemap plugin is throwing an error each time I post. I decided to remove and reinstall to see if this helped but this has caused another issue. On the plug ins screen when I try and upgrade a plug in it starts the process but seems to get stuck on unpacking the upgrade, it cant seem to get past this stage. I have the same issue with new plug ins.

Any ideas how to resolve this?
