• Hi, the email account works normally outside the website, both for sending and receiving using microsoft outlook.
Inside the website, all configurations checked and the message that appears is always “SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting“.
As I thought that could be an error caused by the new version 1.2.6, I even downgraded the plugin version to 1.2.5 but the error is still happening.
    Any advise on this?

    Thanks

    Rogerio

  • Hi, what settings did you enter in the plugin?

    Hi,

    thank you for your reply.

I didn’t change the settings. I kept the settings as the same in outlook:

    email addres
    smtp host: mail.”domain”.pt
    Type of Encryption: no security
    SMTP Port: 25
    SMTP Authentication: yes
    user
    password

After, I changed the smtp host name to our server name (that hosts several of our domains and mail accounts) and the smtp port to 587.
Like this, the plugin is sending mails only to the email adresses on our server and still cant’t sent emails outside our server.

Meanwhile, I had downgraded the version back to 1.2.5.

    Glad if possible to help.

Hi, did you contact your host about this issue? I looks to be a sever issue if you are using your smtp host server.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.

Regarding your question, no I didn’t, as the mail account configuration is the same as in Microsoft Outlook. With MO the smtp works perfectly sending emails outside the server.
I really don’t know what to ask to the mail host.

The plugin is quite simple to use, was working perfectly with 1.2.5 version and I don’t want to change to other solution.

    Best regards.

Hi, you say that it use to work with version 1.2.5. But it stopped working when you upgraded to version 1.2.6. However you then reverted back to 1.2.5 but you still see the error message. As per your comment below.

As I thought that could be an error caused by the new version 1.2.6, I even downgraded the plugin version to 1.2.5 but the error is still happening.

Do you have a cache plugin? If you do, make sure you clear the cache content.

If the above does not help then I suspect it might be your server. Share this information with your host. Get them to carry out a test and see if they can spot something.

I am having the same problem.

I have spoken with 1and1. They have escalated the ticket but as of now, no solution.

I really need this to work.

    Please help.

@grizzlyman1121, can you start a new support thread please. It is easier to troubleshoot one issue at a time from different people.

    Thank you
