    Hello Shea,

Thank you for developing and providing this great tool to the community. I’ll be sure to send you a few beers, a movie and maybe even dinner with your sig ??

If I might bother you with a small request it would sure be awesome if possible.

On those of us that only run Multisites and in my case Multi-Network Multisites, would it be possible to have the settings menu item only show up for the network admin? It would just be one less item to manage with MEP!

Again, thanks for supporting us out here in the wp verse!

This sounds like a feature which would be quite useful to a lot of people. My concern might be, though, that there might be networks where different people use Code Snippets on different subsites and have different preferences for what the settings might be. If I made the settings network-wide only, then it would prevent people from using different themes for the code editor and so forth.

I have been thinking this dilemma over, and a thought I had was to perhaps make the settings network-wide if the checkbox on the Network Settings page to enable the Snippets menu for non-super-admins was unchecked, but if the menus were enabled, then settings should be stored on a per-site basis. What are your thoughts on this? Does it sound like a reasonable compromise?

Thank you for your timely reply.

I have given this a lot of thought and I would say; if a network owner chooses to “Network” activate the plugin, the settings should only be available from the Network Admin. Most developers who use Multi-Site function do so, so they can have more control over their system.

At the very least “Show Network Snippets” should be (unchecked) by default with another checkbox that says “Make Settings Menu Available to Sub-Site Administrators” also (unchecked) by default. This way you would only be creating one more selection box and if both are unchecked by default that would solve my initial problem.

Right now I can’t activate it or make it available on any network that has existing sub-sites since the majority of scripts are meant to affect the entire build.

I have another feature request and a small budget to go with it but it would be better explained in an email or via skype as it’s more technical.

Could you tell me how I might be able to at least go in and change the code so that when it’s activated, show network snippets is unchecked by default and only visible to the admin that activated it. We don’t want anyone to see it, not even other admin’s who might be grated super-admin ‘elevated’ privileges.

Thank you for your help. I have two Andrew Jackson’s to offer for your troubles ??

OK, so I found settings-fields.php and changed ‘Save and Activate’ to true and ‘Show Network Snippets’ to false. And voilà! Now I just need to hide the menu item.

    Hey,

I’m making a lot of updates to the plugin at the moment, so I thought I would revisit this thread and see what improvements I could make to improve the experience on multisite overall.

These are the changes I am intending to include in the next version:

    • The ‘Show Network Snippets’ setting will be disabled by default, and will only be visible to super administrators. When enabled, network snippets will only be visible to super admins in the snippets list on subsites.
    • An additional “Enable Admin Menus” setting will be added to the Network Settings screen for the Snippets Settings menu. When disabled, settings menus will disappear from individual subsites, and a settings menu will be added to the Network Admin, which will be used for the entire network.

Hopefully these changes are in line with what you’re looking for. Let me know whether there are any further tweaks or improvements you might need in regards to this issue. Thanks!
