Backup file will not load

Our site is down and I was attempting to load the last back up I did with your plugin.
In the mySQL section from our host it asks for the: “Character set of the file”
the default setting on their site is utf8, that did not work> I tried twice and all it did was give a bunch of errors.
The SQL compatibility mode I selected NONE as assumed that too was a default setting.
