  • Unless it’s new in the new since 2.5 it’s never been case sensitive. You may try replacing the registration file from an older version. Don’t forget to backup original stuff first.

    I don’t know if it would work but it’s a shot.

    I am using version 2.7
    It is definitely case sensitive. I have tried it many times. I have also seen another question similar to this one without a response. I have also tried more than one user

    user registered as bill
    Bill will not authenticate
    bill will

    user registered as Kenton
    kenton will not authenticate
    Kenton will

    Does someone have an answer?

    ClaytonJames, Thank you SO much for the link. That worked perfectly. I wonder how the WP people can be 99.9% genius and then that .1% thinking that case sensitive usernames would be ok. I suspect they have a reason but it seems to only causes confusion.
