• Hello,

I have been using the Virtue Theme with Polylang and they worked perfectly until recently. The posts on the Homepage only show up in one language. When i load the german version, the posts below the slider show up in english!

I changed the order of the primary language, but the english version stays the one to show up. Updated everything. De+Reactivated Plugins. But that changed nothing.

Inside the News section the posts are shown correctly – either german or english – it just happens on the homepage.

How can I solve that problem – or where can i look for a solution?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi,
Are you using page builder by site origin? Unfortunately, that plugin is not compatible with Polylang. Let me know if you have already tried deactivating page builder (assuming you are using it).

    Hi Hannah,

thanx for your reply! But i’m not using page builder. I recently installed MailChimp for WordPress, which i removed now, unfortunately without any effect.
I removed every inactive Plugin, also the Backup Tools and have now running only the ones i use quite a while now:
Antispam Bee / Email Encoder Bundle – Protect Email Address / Google XML Sitemaps / Kadence Toolkit / Polylang / Reveal IDs / WP-Piwik

    Ps.
Just did a fresh installation of the plain Virtue theme + do have the same Problem.

Did you try deactivating all your plugins one by one just to test?

    Yes.

With the exception of Polylang, because the Website is not reachable at all when i deactivate it.

What do you mean the website is not reachable? What happens when you deactivate polylang?

Sorry. There is no error message, but it did not load any content – below a language switcher coded into the header. After removing it everything loads. Sad to say – that didn’t cause the problem..

But isn’t it strange, that the ‘Read more’ is translated (so it calls the actual language), but does not load the rest of the Post (headline+text)?

In your polylang settings for url modifications can you check to see what setting you are using. Try using:

The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks

I changed ‘The language is set from content’ into ‘The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks’. Still the same Problem:(

    Hello,

    with a
    – fresh installation of WordPress
    – the same setup of plugins
    – imported (identical) content
    – the same server
    it works fine: wp11239145.server-he.de/_testbed

I updated the Theme too. The database should not be the problem, as the News section works – just the content below the slider on the homepage..

What else could cause the problem?

Would be very thankful of any idea!)

I found it. Problem seems to be in the Theme Options:
Home Layout / the Home Blog Setting / Limit posts to a Category

If a Category is chosen, the selection on the homepage works – but it will not be translated!!

Sorry for the delay! Glad to see you were able to solve the problem ??

Sadly the problem is not solved. I only found the reason.

When a category is chosen to be shown on Home, it only shows this specific cat – the language switch is not working.

Theme Options: Home Layout / the Home Blog Setting / Limit posts to a Category

See the base installation here: https://wp11239145.server-he.de/base/

Sticky posts function does not work either..

    Hey,
I will push out an update today that would allow you to use the string translation on the “limit posts to a category” so you can “translate” the string that is the slug for your category to the slug in your other language.

Sticky posts function does not work either

It’s the “latest posts” intentionally not showing sticky posts since it’s the “latest posts”.. If you want sticky posts you can make the home page your “posts” page in the settings reading. Then you can use the “page content” module to show your posts.

    Hello Ben,
sorry for the belated reply + thanks very much for the update!! (Version 3.0.6)

I do have a string “home_post_type” inside Languages > String translation now.
The string name in my installation is “10”. Where do i have to put the translation?

Changing one or both “Translations” of ’10’ into the slug of the category (“homepage”, “startseite”) there is no selection on the homepage any more.
Changing the slug of the category doesn’t work either. Think i’m lost#)

    Cheers,
    Natascha
