Nested Links

I’ve installed Simple News and it works great. I’m using the Widget on my Front Page (see referenced website in lower left under Content).Im running code in my Theme Function.php to preserve HTML formatting in all my Excerpts. As you can see on my Front Page that it works well with News except for one issue. The beginning of the News article “The Novella,” is NOT supposed to be a Link. However it is displaying as part of the Title’s Link because there is not an ending for the Title. After “The Novella,” the words “Ashes of the Dragon” are supposed to be a Link.

The problem seems to be that the News plugin wraps the whole news excerpt inside a link.

Is there a way to change the HTML produced by this plugin so that the Title is a separate Link from the wrap around Link og the Excerpt? In other words, keep the Wrap Around Link, but then make the Title it’s own Link. This would have the Title work like the other Links with an ending but retain the Link for the entire Article. If you can’t update to fix, is there any Custom Code (CSS or somewhere else) to make this work.thanks for any assistance you can provide.
