  • Hello @miglehu

I have installed that plugin to check and see that it has quite fewer options than ours. Our plugin has synchronization options and different modes, ability to upload previously added images to Google bucket, ability to edit the single image and again sync with Google Cloud storage.

    Regards.

Google is a great company, we use many of their products from our hosting to our e-mail, as do many others. However, in this case I believe we have much more relevant experience with WordPress. We work with WordPress every single day. We made this plugin because we needed it and we were fairly certain that many others would as well.

It’s up to you to decide which plugin is better. But my personal opinion that its always better to use software made by people who use that very same software.

There are many advantages actually. Here is a run down of the features coming in v2.0.

    Modes
    – Backup – Upload media files to Google Storage and serve local file urls.
    – CDN – Copy media files to Google Storage and serve them directly from there.
    – Stateless – Store and serve media files with Google Cloud Storage only. Media files are not stored locally.

    Features
    – Setup assistant makes getting started fast and easy.
    – No need to manually create service accounts or buckets – handled automatically.
    – Settings panel provides you with further GCS configuration and file url customization.
    – Mask the default GCS URL with your own custom domain.
    – Automatically replace hardcoded media URLs with GCS equivalents in post editor and meta.
    – Batch image thumbnail regeneration.
    – Synchronization tools for uploading existing files and images.
    – All settings supported with wp-config constants and network setting overrides.
    – Multiple modes: Backup, CDN, Stateless.
    – All files served in HTTPS mode.
    – Multisite compatible.

We expect to officially release next week, but if you don’t want to wait – you can grab v2.0.0-rc1 at https://github.com/wpCloud/wp-stateless/releases

I’m sorry I never responded to all the super-helpful replies on this thread. Thank you for your insightful comments.

I can verify after trying out both options, that using stateless is a much smoother experience. It’s an amazingly well-crafted plugin. It does everything it is supposed to and I don’t think I can praise it enough.

Thank you for your hard work!
