Where, oh where can I find an example of how to create a template.

This is without a doubt the best gallery plugin out there, and the worst documented plugin bar none. Seriously. It is just next to impossible to use out of the box without some coding experience. Number one request: get with a technical writer/editor and put together the first class documentation the plugin deserves.
