• I have successfully integrated a smooth gallery into my main page. The only problem now is that it appears over the drop-down menus I have running on my site. See the homepage here Is there a way to make the gallery appear below or behind the drop-down menus..

  • Sorry, I’m no help to you, but I have to say I’m impressed with that Smooth Gallery plugin. It looks great! Does it utilize NextGen’s alt/title fields?

I’m having the same problem crbarnett.

I’m building a site and the dropdowns are behind the gallery images. I’ve tried to edit both z-index values but either I did that wrong or it is not the right fix.

    Hey Rocket,

Good to hear from someone about the problem. Now we can work on the solution together. Where where you able to control the z-index the drop-downs and the gallery. What is the url to your site. Maybe we can compare codes..

It looks like this example from CSSplay might achieve what you want.

If not and you don’t find another solution, you could also try styling your menus like one of these. Maybe re-inventing the wheel little, but it might be worth it depending how things work out for you.

Thanks for the reply and advice. Those are some good alternatives I will think about trying to implement. Still going to leave the topic open for discussion and post a solution when it rears it’s evasive head..

I just started using NG Gallery and was having the same problem – and found this thread. When opening the gallery my menu drop down bar stayed OVER the slideshow:

I upped the z-index on all the Nextgen CSS elements, but it didn’t work. I made my z-index on the drop down -1, which made it completely dissappear. After more fiddling I finally made the drop down menus z-index -.5 which finally worked.

I’m not a CSS expert, but it worked. If someone wants to explain to me why I’ll be a wiser man.

I have to check in other browsers at home, but hope that might help – james…
