I am an amateur at this stuff and have various questions if anyone can help.

I am using Xeiro 1.1 theme. My url is https://www.fromthedust.org

I am trying to remove “as if from the dust” (the smaller out of place text) from my banner. How do I do this?

How do I find out what size picture will fit in my header space, as obviously the image I have there dosen’t fit. (I don’t see it under header.php in the Design -> Theme Editor)

Similarly, how do I make the entire header a link back to the home url of https://www.fromthedust.org.

  • The extra text is generated by WP. You can remove it by going into your dashboard/options and removing the text in the “blog title” box.

Your existing header image is 899×153 pixels, which is rather large depending on your resolution – but displays just fine on my system. I don’t know what your issue is there.

As for your last question … your HOME button in your top navbar already points to your url – which is the same as where your blog is installed. Is this a trick question? :’)

Thanks for the help. No trick questions, just an amateur. ?? You solved 2 out of 3 of my problems.

I am still trying to figure out how to make my banner fit a bigger image? ie. my image I want to use is 962×525. Ie. Much bigger height wise then what I have right now. I assume I need to change the coding in header.php but I don’t see any dimensions to change in the first place. It is a custom template (Xeiro 1.1) so I am not sure what to do?
Any help is again much appreciated

Normally you change the page width in style.css but it will possibly mess up your columns as their width adds up to the page width. Your new banner will be 3+ times as tall as the one you have – that is pretty high!
