    So today I used UpdraftPlus for the first time to carry out a backup of my blog. I am backing up to Google Drive. However I received the following error:

    Warning: A zip error occurred – check your log for more details
    The backup apparently succeeded (with warnings) and is now complete (Jul 11 14:55:10)

    I’ve had a look at the log but it’s really long and I don’t know where to look. Plus I’m not very techy and haven’t a clue what could be wrong.

    The full log is too long to copy and paste using Pastebin, however I have managed to paste the first portion of the log file:

    <script src=”https://pastebin.com/embed_js/bq1PGDyC”></script&gt;

    Would someone be able to take a look and see what I might need to do. I don’t know where to start!

    Thanks,

    Laura

    Hi Laura,

    Please could you check how much free space is available in your hosting account (not Google Drive)? The error that you are receiving is usually caused by the hosting quota being full.

    Thanks @dnutbourne I have checked with 1and1 and it looks like I have 2553MB left. Does this suggest that my backup is taking up a lot of space? When doing my backup I was including plugins, themes, uploads & other directories. Do I need to backup these? Where is all the content of my blog posts held, i.e. the words, is this in the database? And what about images?

    Just as a test I did a backup this morning of just the Database and it only took about a minute and worked fine with no errors.

    So I’m not sure if I need all the other stuff. If the worst did happen and I needed to restore my blog would I just be able to re-add the theme and plugins manually?

    Thanks

    Thanks @dnutbourne I checked with 1and1 and it looks like I have 2553MB spare in my Database so does that suggest my backup is taking up a lot of space? I’ve been including plugins, themes, uploads & other directories in my backups but not sure if I need these? Where is the actual content of my blog posts (I.e. the words) stored? Are these in the database? And what about the images?

    As a test this morning I ran a backup of the database only and it only took a minute and completed with no errors.

    If the worst happened and I did need to restore my blog surely I could just reapply my theme and plugins in the normal way? So do I really need to back all these other things up?

    Thanks

    Laura
